The Kitchen Is the Centerpiece of Your Florida Home

No other room in your home has to do as many jobs. The kitchen is where everyone ends up when you entertain — and it’s a workspace, where meals get made, cookies get baked, and a midnight snack gets snuck. A great kitchen balances all of those roles so well that you stop noticing how much it’s actually doing.

Everyone’s idea of the perfect kitchen is a little different. Before you talk to anyone, make a list of what matters most to you in yours. Knowing what you actually need is how we meet and beat your expectations — and it’s the first thing we’ll ask you about.

What a Topnotch Kitchen Includes

We handle the design and the build. One company, one point of contact, from the first measurement to the final walkthrough.

Design

A free in-home consultation, precise measurements, and a detailed 3D rendering of your new kitchen — so you can see the layout, cabinetry, materials and finishes before anything is ordered. We adjust it with you in real time until it’s right.

Countertops, Tile & Finishes

Granite and quartz templated to your installed cabinets, backsplash tile, lighting, hardware and trim. The details that decide whether a kitchen looks finished or looks close.

Our 8-Step Kitchen Remodeling Process

Remodeling a kitchen should be an exciting experience, not a stressful one. Here’s exactly how yours will go, from the first phone call to the last cabinet door.

It starts with a conversation. Tell us what you’re picturing, what’s not working about the kitchen you have, and roughly what you’d like to spend. We’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit — and if we are, we’ll set up a free in-home consultation.

One of our kitchen design professionals comes to you. We take precise measurements, walk the space, and talk through how you actually use your kitchen — storage, traffic, where you cook, where everyone stands. You’ll leave the conversation with a clear picture of what’s possible in your space and what it takes to get there. There’s no charge and no obligation.

Your designer takes the measurements and everything you told them back to the studio and builds a preliminary design — a detailed 3D rendering with the proposed layout, cabinetry, materials and finishes. It’s your ideas plus our recommendations: smart storage, a layout that flows, finishes that work together.

We bring the design to you and walk you through it in your own kitchen, where you can see it against the real space. This part is a conversation, not a presentation — tell us what’s off and we’ll change it. If you decide to move forward, then depending on the scope of your project a design retainer may be required. It formalizes the partnership and pays for the detailed design work that comes next.

Now we get specific. We sit down in your home and go through every element — cabinetry, countertops, lighting, hardware — adjusting the 3D rendering in real time so you can see the effect of each decision as you make it. Nothing gets ordered until you’ve seen it and signed off on it.

Your cabinets are built in America by Holiday Kitchens, the cabinet line we carry — factory-joined, finished, and shipped ready to install, which is a meaningful difference from cabinets assembled on site. They carry a limited lifetime warranty. Manufacturing typically takes four to eight weeks.

Your cabinets ship to a local, climate-controlled receiving warehouse rather than sitting in a driveway or a hot garage. Every box is inspected on arrival and stored until your project is ready for them — then delivered to your home. It’s an extra step, and it’s why cabinets arrive in the condition they left the factory in.

Your kitchen is installed by our in-house installation team — not a subcontracted crew we met that morning. Because the designer and the installers work for the same company, nothing gets lost in translation: what you approved in the rendering is what gets built. And we don’t disappear when the last door goes on. Whether it’s a warranty part or something that got knocked in a move, you call us and we handle it.

Why Palm Beach County Homeowners Choose Topnotch

  • You deal direct with the owner. Steve McKenna is on your project from the first handshake to the final walkthrough. The person who quotes your kitchen is the person who stands behind it.
  • Our installers are in-house. Most remodelers subcontract the installation to whoever is available that week. Ours work for us, they work to our designer’s drawings, and they’re the same crew on your job from the first cabinet to the last. No handoff, no “that’s not what the drawing said.”
  • Certified specifically in kitchens and baths. Owner Steve McKenna is a NARI Certified Kitchen & Bathroom Remodeler — a kitchen-and-bath credential on top of the general contractor license, which is a distinction worth asking any contractor about.
  • 30+ years of craftsmanship. Three decades of residential remodeling, and a Florida State Certified Residential Contractor (CRC1332966).
  • Two warranties, in writing. A limited lifetime warranty on your Holiday Kitchens cabinetry, and five years on our own labor and workmanship.
  • We protect your home. Drop cloths go down, the work area gets sealed off to contain dust, and we clean up daily. We’re guests in your house.
  • We do the rest of the house too. Same crew, same standard — bathrooms, home offices, laundry rooms and built-ins.

Picking the right contractor matters more than any single product decision you’ll make. This is what we’d tell a friend to look for — including when the answer isn’t us.

The first real decision is the style: traditional, modern, contemporary, transitional, farmhouse, craftsman. It sounds obvious, but plenty of kitchens get designed before anyone has settled what they’re supposed to look like — and that’s how you end up with a kitchen you like instead of one you love.

Pay attention to other people’s kitchens. Save what you like from design centers, magazines and websites — our Houzz ideabooks are a good place to start. Print the pictures. Take notes on why you like each one. That’s the single most useful thing you can bring to a first meeting with any designer.

You’ve got a style, a folder of pictures, and a list of what you need. Now watch how the contractor responds. Are they interested? Do they ask questions and give you real feedback, or are they waiting for a chance to talk about price? If they’re not engaged with your vision at the first meeting, they won’t be at the last one either. Keep looking.

Once the style and your requirements are settled, the functional design can be worked out. A lot of homeowners and contractors do this backwards — they start drawing before anyone has decided what the kitchen has to do. That’s the difference between a kitchen you’re thrilled with and one you describe with “I should have…” or “I’m happy with it, but…”

Style, function, layout, design and finish choices all combine into a kitchen that’s uniquely yours. Chosen carefully and planned properly, you get the kitchen you wanted with no regrets. A good kitchen contractor knows there’s more to this than producing a design and signing a contract.

Kitchen Remodeling FAQs

About three to four months from signing, but only three to four weeks of work in your home. Cabinets take four to eight weeks to manufacture and nothing happens in your house during that time. Once we start, demolition through cabinet installation is usually two weeks or less, with countertops adding another one to two.

Yes. The in-home consultation — measurements, walking your space, talking through options — is free and carries no obligation. If you decide to move forward after seeing the preliminary design, a design retainer may be required at that point depending on the scope of your project, to fund the detailed design work.

Most of our clients do. We seal off the work area to contain dust, put down floor protection, and clean up at the end of every day. We’ll also help you set up a temporary kitchen before demolition starts.

Yes — a large share of our work is exactly that. We’ll coordinate with your association if the building restricts off-season work, and send progress photos so you can watch it come together from wherever you are.

How Long Does a Kitchen Remodel Take?

Straight answer: most of our kitchens take about three to four months from the day you sign, and about three to four weeks of actual work in your house. Here’s where the time goes.

  1. Design and selections — a few weeks. However long it takes you to be sure. We don’t order anything until you are.
  2. Cabinet Manufacturing— 4 to 8 weeks. Your cabinets are built to order in America. This is the longest stretch, and nothing happens in your house during it — you keep using your kitchen the whole time.
  3. Demolition to cabinets installed — usually 2 weeks or less. We start once your cabinetry is ready to deliver, so your kitchen is only out of commission once.
  4. Countertops — 1 to 2 weeks. Granite and quartz are templated against your installed cabinets, then fabricated and installed. Templating can’t happen earlier; measuring off a drawing is how you get a countertop that doesn’t fit.
  5. Backsplash and final touches. Then it’s yours.

Up North for the Summer? Come Home to a Finished Kitchen.

A tremendous amount of our work happens in the off-season, while seasonal residents are up north. An empty house is the easiest place to remodel a kitchen well — nobody cooking around the dust, nobody living without a sink for three weeks.

Many Palm Beach County associations restrict renovation work to the off-season too, and the rules vary building to building. We know those calendars and plan your project around them.

Hand us the keys and we’ll send progress photos as the work moves. You come home to a finished kitchen.

Licensed, insured, and used to working while you’re away — your home stays secure and your project stays on schedule the whole time you’re gone.Every kitchen is different, but the vast majority of our Palm Beach County kitchens are substantially complete within two weeks of demolition and fully finished within three to four.
